SINGAPORE Press Holdings, the publisher of The Straits Times, also offers a search engine, called rednano, that focuses on all things Singapore.
Launched last month, it promises to offer Singapore-specific query results.
For example, a search for 'tiger' will bring up Tiger Beer as well as Tiger Airways, instead of just the giant cat.
Mr Paul Jansen, chief executive officer of SPH Search, which runs rednano, said: 'Rednano.sg tracks top searched terms continuously. We use this information internally to improve our service by ensuring that, over time, we locate and index sites which pertain to popular Singapore-related terms.'
From April 1 until now, the top search terms at rednano included 'real estate services', 'Ang Mo Kio' and 'TNO Systems', a local provider of computer services.
