BackApr 07, 2011

MAGAZINES from the Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) stable have proven to be hot favourites among advertisers in Singapore.

SPH publications swept the top prizes in more than half of the 14 categories in the latest Magazine of the Year rankings, the media group's magazines unit said in a statement yesterday.

The annual survey, conducted by trade publication Marketing, compiled the preferences of marketing agencies as well as those of advertisers from major banks, consumer goods companies, property developers, IT and telecommunications firms, travel and tourism companies and the public sector.

Bagging the top prize was women's lifestyle magazine Her World, which won the overall Magazine of the Year 2011 crown.

In second and third places respectively were Cleo, published by ACP Magazines, and MediaCorp Publishing's 8 Days.

Her World also snagged a second No. 1 spot: as Women's Magazine of the Year.

Icon, a Chinese-language luxury magazine, was christened the Chinese Magazine of the Year, SPH Magazines said.

The title of Parenting Magazine of the Year went to Young Parents, while Home & Decor was top in the Interior Design Magazine of the Year rankings.

Torque and HardwareMAG took home the honours of Motor Vehicle Magazine of the Year and Consumer Electronics Magazine of the Year respectively.

Rounding out the wins was Golf Digest, as Golf Magazine of the Year, said SPH Magazines.

Other SPH periodicals also ranked in the top three positions of their respective categories. They were Men's Health, Seventeen, The Peak, Female, Luxury Properties and Business Quotient.

The chief executive officer of SPH Magazines, Mr Loh Yew Seng, said the survey proved that the group's publications 'do serve the needs of the advertisers well'.

He added: 'We take great pride in maintaining our position as the region's publisher of choice, providing value to both readers in the form of a quality read and advertisers with an effective advertising platform.'
